Salty

We did salty watercolors yesterday for the first time in a long time.  I don't think New Fish remembers doing them.  She was too little to do much with it last time.  We started with watercolor paper and white school glue.  The girls enjoy being able to use so much glue at once.  Then we covered the glue in table salt.  If you just touch the brush full of watercolor to the salty glue it will run down the lines.  It creates a very cool effect and the girls were screaming everytime it would run up one of their lines.

Red Fish got tired of working on her painting so she decided to try an eye dropper with the liquid watercolors.  It splashed outside of the lines obviously but it made the paint run up the lines like crazy.  Both girls had a fantastic time watching that much paint run around the paper.  The colors would run together and mix and the girls said it was "magic."

After they finished their salty watercolors, the girls wanted to use their eye droppers more so we broke out more paint and their bleeding shapes.

From there the project just kept getting bigger.  Gotta love summer art projects and sending them through the sprinklers for cleanup.
