Asia's Legs And Other Randoms

Red Fish has been having some major foot issues. She has always been a major toe walker but I felt like like the shape of her feet was changing this summer so I took her in to see a specialist at the children's Orthopedic Hospital for a consultation and we ended up walking out with two leg casts and a plan for serial casting over the next six weeks. She is now in ankle and foot braces that she will use for a few months. Her ankle cords were too tight and needed to be stretched and now it looks like she has skeletal bunions. We are hoping to avoid bunion surgery by having surgery on her growth plates in six months to a year.  It has been rather dramatic for Red Fish and the rest of our family.

We have had mostly warm weather which has been great because pants do not fit well over Asia's casts. On one of the few cold days Asia wore her pajama pants that she sewed herself. We did end up ironing them so they weren't so wrinkly but she loved showing them off at school. She is a silver lining kind of girl- she really knows how to make the best of things.
Right before school started Red Fish asked Two Fish to take her on a special Daddy Daughter outing and she got all dressed up. It was so sweet. This girl adores her Daddy.

Random Stuff We Have Been Up To

Visiting the farm at Thanksgiving point with T and the cousins.
Red Fish and T- horse obsessed.
Riding the horses in her casts with Two Fish's socks over them.
Playing legos with their friends C and Ben. They are all about legos all of the sudden.
A little father daughter hike (in casts)
Reflections projects- working on their videos

This kiddo is playing soccer. Obviously Red Fish is missing this season. New Fish loves being goalie and she is hilarious to watch.
She is so much fun.  She dances everywhere she goes and she is obsessed with cartwheels and skipping.

Red Fish and I got to go to the symphony opening gala together to see Lang Lang perform on the piano. It was amazing. Couldn't have had a better date but I am now convinced that we both need ballgowns.
Right now I am really enjoying my afternoons with this kiddo. She loves to write lists and her favorite thing is to go grocery shopping together. She is the keeper of the list and she takes the job seriously. I give her the recipes I want to use and she makes the list and checks each thing off as we shop. Who knew shopping with a kid could be so amazing.

There have been art projects galore and preparations for reflections.

Six

My sweet Lynnie-Lou Bubba-Lou Bub is six. I wish I could capture her five year old self in a bottle and keep it even as she gets bigger and smarter and even more fun every single day. She is budddy. We have gotten to spend so much time together the last year. It has been a really special time. One on one time is a priceless commodity.
On her birthday her teacher had her bring a favorite book to share with the class. New Fish wanted to read it to the class herself. She is a great reader.
We had a little family birthday party on Sunday

We read the "Little Princess" over the summer and New Fish really wanted a gold heart locket for her birthday with a picture of her family and picture of her dog in it. Easy wish to fulfill.
All of her little friends from our street materialized to be with her on her birthday. They spent time doing pearler beads.

Random Things Of Late

We always drive through the mountains when the leaves begin to change although we were a little disappointed with the leaves this year. It wasn't nearly as pretty as years past but it is never a bad day in the mountains.

Practicing her babysitting skills on Baby Pixie while I supervise.
Building bottle rockets in the backyard with friends A and  T
The school has a fun run every year as a fundraiser. I tried to convince Red Fish to just do a portion since she had big casts on her legs but she insisted on doing the whole route. We were the last ones back to the school but she made it. Two of her friends stuck with her the whole way. Red Fish is the most determined kid that I know. She doesn't let anything stop her.

My awesome sister in law M.E. came and ran with New Fish. New Fish is turning into a little speed demon and was one of the first kids finished with the run. She didn't stop the entire time. Thing 2 who I am now going to start calling Doodle was in a stroller with us.

One of our most recent outings was to the Aquarium with my friend Lovely L and her kids.
