Dance Pictures & Recital

Red Fish has been counting down the days until her recital is over. She has decided that dance is really not her interest. She enjoyed most of her hip hop class but she was definitely ready for it to be over. This was not a surprise to her mother.

New Fish continues to adore her dance lessons. She did ballet and jazz and joined Red Fish's hip hop class. She is signed up for dance for next year already.

Take my picture Mom- I look soooo Hip Hop
I just love the way Pixie is looking at Two Fish. She stayed with us for a few days and she would get so excited when Two Fish came home from work.

The scarf New Fish is wearing is named "Mr. Bear." He has magical properties that make New Fish a great skier. He is an important bear around here. The lift operators always recognize New Fish because

Dancing Queen

New Fish took a little dance class from the girls on the highschool dance team and got to perform during one of the basketball halftime shows. She thought she was HOT STUFF.

Dance Recital

December dance recital was very fun. The girls were nervous to perform but they did a great job. It was very different from the tightly choreographed show that New Fish was in last season. No 25 pages of instructions on hair and makeup so that was a relief. New Fish has been taking jazz and ballet and Red Fish has been taking hip hop.

It was special that Mimi was able to attend. It is getting increasingly difficult for her to leave the house and the effort of coming was immense. I don't know how many more events my children can expect any of their great grandparents to attend and it pulls at my heart every time I think about it. My kids are so lucky to have had great grandparents in their lives to support and love them. Having six grandparents is an amazing thing. I pray every day that my kids will remember how loved they are and that they will remember the efforts that their family has made to support them.

The Dancer

Little New Fish has decided she wants to be a dancer when she grows up and has been taking tap and ballet all year. She loves to dance. I on the other hand am not cut out to be a dance mom.  It stresses me out and even though she is just taking weekly classes that were fine, the recital had 50 million rules and full makeup, dress rehearsals and other things that nearly gave me a nervous breakdown.  I'm going to have to learn how to roll with it if New Fish is going to continue with dance.

She is so cute though and you can see how much fun she has.
The week of the [New Fish] shows ended with her big recital in a fancy theatre downtown. Red Fish was especially excited for her sister. New Fish did awesome and was one of the few preschoolers in the show who sort of knew their dance. Most importantly, she had an absolute blast and was thrilled to "be on the stage again!"

The Diva

New Fish had her preschool performance.  She work up sick of the morning of her performance last year so she was really looking forward to being there this year. I was so worried she would catch something that I woke up in the middle of the night to check on her and feel her forehead. New Fish is definitely a performer. She loved being up on stage and we could hear her above all of the other kids. She had little dance moves and got really into her part. She also loved that so many family memebers came to show support.
After her performance, New Fish got to go pick out her first bouquet of flowers with her great grandma- Mimi. She was very excited about her Christmas daisies.
New Fish had a demonstration day in her ballet, tap and jazz classes.  I can always watch through the window of her classes but it was fun to go in and have the kids put on their little program.

I love that her little tongue sticks out when she is working hard and concentrating.
