Art Group Day 11- Matisse Inspired Collages

Today we looked at Matisse's collages and at a pop up book by David Carter.  We talked about bold colors and fun shapes.  We also discussed that our art didn't have to be flat.  It could be three dimensional.
Even the littlest kids get into these projects.  Our youngest kids this year were 18 months old.
Some of the kids cuts pictures out of magazines and some of them rolled balls of paper, created three dimensional springs and coils of paper.  Some were tearing their papers, others cut meticulously with scissors.  It's always interesting to see how the materials inspire them.
The glue disappears pretty fast around here.  Kids love to squeeze that bottle.
New Fish's creation.  I love the shapes she cut- plenty of scissor slices.

Buddy 2's very Matisse
