Musings of a mother/scuba instructor/graphic designer/musical entrepreneur. Totally in love with my husband (Two Fish) of ten years. We have two beautiful daughters (Red Fish and New Fish) and a nutty dog (Blue Fish) who help make our family complete and completely happy. W have learned to expect the unexpected and are always up for an adventure.
I am enthusiastic about living and learning. I love people who make me laugh. I have an ironic appreciation for the unique and absurd. I am an enthusiastic and untalented tap dancer with a love for new Christmas ornaments, art, the outdoors, the water, music, good books, skiing, and travel. My greatest calling in life is to be a Mom. I LOVE it!
Its so true. Often I feel like the things I valued a few years ago (like wearing make-up every day, keeping a clean and organized house, and getting out with friends) have fallen by the wayside. But these days really wont last forever. Soon the kids will be grown and I will know what things really are important. I hope everyday that I discover those things sooner rather than later and enjoy them as much as I can. So here's to finger painting or fighting dragons in the living room.
Well said, Nancy. I remember, before my first was born, what on earth I would do at home all day with a newborn. I thought I'd need to stock up on books, or have a project to keep me busy. Oh, I got a project all right! I really believe that until you have kids of your own, it is very very difficult to comprehend what a stay-at-home parent actually does with their time. Moral is: you really can't judge anyone till you've walked a mile in their shoes.
I love this! It's only slightly better when they get in school because when they're home for the few hours before bedtime after school you have to squeeze it all in anyway! In addition to homework, music lessons, scouts,.....
I've read this before, but never tire of hearing it. Thanks for the smile! My favorite line, "It's taking 45 minutes to do what takes others 15." Can it be more like an hour in my case?
That line about taking 45 minutes to do what takes others 15 is my favorite, too. It makes me think about how before I had kids, I could just hop in the car and go. Now, it takes a bit more time and thought to go anywhere especially when you've got one still in diapers. But, it is all worth it and I'm sure that one day when they're all grown up, I'll miss it.
