Art Group Day 10- Monoprints

Today in art group we made monoprints.  We talked about creating a series of prints and then creating a more free form monoprint that can't be replicated and we dug through a basket of random objects that could be used to make prints.  We used tempera with textured shelf paper, bubble wrap, string, plastic forks, sponges, stamps, scrubbers, hands etc. in order to create a layered print.   Bubble wrap is especially fun. I always show the kids a monoprint by Karen Kyler that I have hanging in my house.

New Fish prefers to make her artwork very quickly (usually starting while I'm still in the middle of my demo) and then move on to playing in a bucket of soapy water or the hose.  She arrives home from art group soaking wet every single week.  Good thing it is summer.

Some prints are carefully planned and executed with precision and care.
Some prints are an explosion of paint and process.
