Painting The Sidewalk

I know this picture has a lovely view of the inside of my garage but hey, at least it is clean.  Today after swimming lessons, we decided to try making some sidewalk paint.  I'd seen on pinkandgreenmama.blogspot.com that they had used corn starch, water and food coloring to make sidewalk paint but that the colors didn't turn out well.  We decided to try adding liquid watercolors to the cornstarch and water instead because I don't like food coloring unless it's food. It stains skin and clothes.  Our paint turned out awesome!  The colors were super bright and the texture was perfect for sticking to the cement.  The girls had a blast.  When the paint dries it looks a lot like sidewalk chalk.  It's pretty awesome.  We will definitely be doing this again multiple times this summer.

My main plan for summer is to do a lot of outdoor art, swim a lot and play outside.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.  On Mondays we have swimming lessons first thing in the morning so that should start us off.  Red Fish has been taking lessons once a week for awhile.  Every other week, there are kids starting a two week cycle of lessons with some of the other teachers.  I have to say I love it when their moms gasp when they see Red Fish jump in the pool and swim to her teacher.  They always have this look of shock on their face when they ask me how old she is. She is so little but she can really swim!  (She has also taken a lot of lessons and spends a lot of time in the pool but that doesn't make me any less proud.) It makes me so happy that Red Fish likes her lessons so much and that she is such a great little swimmer.  New Fish starts in a few weeks and she will hopefully love it too!

We are definitely going to try this one. Your garage is immaculate. Do you even live there?
