N is for Noodle And No

This week in preschool we talked about the letter N (for NO!) police officers and more counting.  We started with our calendar as always and sang our turkey and pumpkin songs. We used the button turkeys again for our singing time.  The kids are doing a little better buttoning the feathers on. We read a few books about police officers and talked about what police officers do.   We went through safety rules and talked about strangers.  We talked about what the kids should do if they get lost or if somebody tries to put them in their car etc.  We also practiced saying NO!  It is hard to know how many of these ideas really connect with them at this tiny age but hopefully if we keep discussing personal safety it will sink in a little bit.

We looked at the letter N and made a collage with noodles.
We did a few seasonal activities.  We made turkeys with foam turkeys, cay and feathers.  We also made a list of things we are thankful for on little foam pumpkins.  Theirrs lists were so cute.  They listed their friends and family and grass, wind, bubbles, bikes, food, homes and other things.  They spent a lot of time thinking of things to add to their list.  It was sweet.
We reviewed our numbers 1-10 and counting again with sand paper numbers.  This is the only number or letter tracing I can interest New Fish in- tracing sandpaper numbers and letters with her finger.  We used little cups with turkeys on them and the kids put colored popsicle sticks in the cups to be feathers.  They really seemed to like this activity.  Next we made turkeys out of paper plates, sequins, confetti, tissue paper squares and construction paper.  They decorated the tails collage style and then glued together their turkey bodies on the front.  Red Fish did all of the art projects when she came home, as per usual.  Next week I won't be teaching homeschool because of Thanksgiving.
