Art On The Go

New Fish

Red Fish
We drove twelve hours to visit with my college roommate Muffy.  She has come several times to visit us and we had only made it to California once, so it was definitely our turn to make the trek.  The girls did a fabulous job entertaining themselves in the car.  They would list off the sights found on "their side" of the car like cows, red cars etc.  They yelled for everyone in the car to duck everytime we went under a bridge or overpass.  They discussed our itinerary multiple times and wanted to be alerted every time we entered a new city.  They counted down the minutes until we could visit the beach.  We sang songs and they watched Mulan for the first time on Two Fish's tablet.  We had prizes for every hour of well behaved car travel.  The prizes included dollar store toys, treats and projects.

Projects included a tub of foam stickers, coloring books, and these pipe cleaner and floral foam scultptures inspired by the artful parent.  If you decide to try them in the car make sure your foam doesn't shed.  Our lungs got a coating of green powder.  It was still worth it. The girls spent a solid hour manipulating their pipe cleaners.

Our first night was in Vegas at the Hampton just outside the main part of the city. (Thanks Lovely N) The girls loved the breakfast buffet.  It was the most food they ate on the entire trip.
