Reflections

The next level of the reflections art competition is the council level. Red Fish won an award of excellence (1st place- moves on to the next level) for her sculpture and an award of merit (2nd place) for her drawing.

She won an award of merit for the sculpture at the regional level as well. She will be moving on to state in the next few months- it is a pretty amazing thing.
Red Fish had me put that hair wrap in her hair.  I used to have one all the time when I was a kid. It's so fun to see her develop her own opinions and style. She is very independent and doesn't care what anyone else thinks about things like clothes or what is "cool." She has her own version of what she thinks is cool and is not easily swayed- I hope she can keep that trait as she grows up. She is so amazing.

New Cousin

We got to go watch my brother M bless his baby Noodle today. It is a good day for babies.

We got to meet her newest cousin Pixie today. Red Fish finished knitting her a tiny hat before we went over. Red Fish is the best big cousin. She can hardly wait until she is old enough to start babysitting. (It will be awhile.) She wants to start practicing. New Fish is entirely enraptured with her baby cousins. She has such a tender heart and LOVES babies.

Friendship Bracelets and A Late Over

My little girls are always learning something new. Right now the big fascination is friendship bracelets.
Another of Red Fish's projects- learning to make friendship bracelets
As part of Christmas break- the girls got to have a late over. A late over is kind of like a slumber party- pizza, movies, games etc. but everyone just stays up late and then goes home to their own beds.

New Years Weekend

We went to my parent's lakehouse for New Years. Red Fish spent a lot of time sewing and having my brother J teach her to knit. Both of my brothers can knit but I can't. Red Fish got a loom for Christmas so she is starting with a hat. This girl is always making something.
We played minute to win it games for New Year's eve and celebrated at ten pm. The kids were hilarious.

There were art projects (of course)
New Fish can be found reading to anyone who will listen. Her little cousins are great for this.
 And sledding and snow sculptures.
As you can see- we are fans of the snow.
